Fuelling the Future of College Athletics
Welcome to AthleteRegistry.org
Thank you for registering your NCAA or NAIA varsity competitive years with AthleteRegistry.org. Together, we are creating the first-ever athlete-driven, nationally centralized registry of current and former college athletes, spanning 1970 through current rosters at all 1,321 NCAA and NAIA four-year institutions.
What Is Our Goal?
More than 500,000 NCAA and NAIA athletes compete every year in the United States, and an estimated 8 million living Americans are former college athletes. Our goal is a complete registry of every one of them.
How Do We Get There?
AthleteRegistry.org does not advertise. We keep registrations authentic by growing only through the athlete community itself. You are here because AthleteRegistry.org invited you directly, or you were invited by a current or former teammate, your coach, or your letterwinners association. For that same reason, it matters that after registering, you also share the link with every current and former NCAA and NAIA four-year college athlete you know, wherever they are in the world, regardless of whether they competed for your program or not. The registry grows the same way college athletics itself is built: through the circles athletes already trust.
For decades, every athletic department has had to build and maintain its own independent database of alumni contact information. That information goes stale almost as soon as it's collected. On average, universities lose contact with 85 percent of athletes within two years of transfer or graduation. AthleteRegistry.org exists to end that. We're building a single, national, athlete-maintained record so that a program's entire living alumni base, from 1970 rosters to today, is finally centralized, accurate, and reachable.
Help Complete the National Picture
The more complete AthleteRegistry.org is, the more it benefits every university, every student-athlete, and every sports program.
If you know other current or former college athletes, from any four-year NCAA or NAIA university, simply copy and paste the AthleteRegistry.org link today via text, WhatsApp, or email. If you are a coach or athletic department, distribute it through your program's athlete communication system. If you are a letterwinners association, send it to the email list you already have for former athletes, and your university's channel starts growing virally from there. Each additional registration improves the accuracy of the data and helps ensure collegiate athletics is understood through the athletes who actually competed in it.
Why AthleteRegistry.org Exists
College sports are changing quickly. Media partners, conferences, administrators, investment groups, and policymakers increasingly influence the direction of collegiate athletics at a national level. With so many perspectives shaping the future, it matters that the size, diversity, and reach of the athlete community itself is clearly understood, and that the athletes themselves have a direct line back to their programs.
AthleteRegistry.org creates a standardized, nationwide view of collegiate athletics, through non-personal, aggregated dashboard metrics, drawn from the athletes who experienced it firsthand. It also lays the groundwork for something coaching staffs have never reliably had: a direct way to reach their sport's entire alumni base, for a reunion, an honor, an announcement, or simply to stay connected, through notification features we are now working to build into the next layer of the platform.
A Whole New Day for Coaches and Letterwinners Associations
The demands of the current college athletics climate require that current and former athletes stay as united as possible with the programs that shaped them, and that those programs can reach their athletes just as easily in return.
If a coach needs to round up their alumni quickly, for a reunion, a recognition, a program milestone, we are here. If a university has an opportunity worth extending to its former athletes, we are here. And if you are tired of the constant bounce-backs and dead ends that come from outdated alumni databases, we are working to fix that too, for good.
Your Story, If You Choose to Share It
Registration includes two optional fields where you can share a personal story or offer suggestions for the future of college athletics. These are entirely optional, but we encourage you to fill them in. They are never displayed publicly, and are visible only to the athletic department and coaching staff of the sport(s) and university(ies) you associate your registration with.
Explore the Data
As athletes register, the homepage updates in real time with anonymous, aggregated data across sports, schools, states, conferences, and graduation years. You are encouraged to explore the data, compare categories, and check back often as participation grows. The more athletes who join, the clearer the picture of college athletics becomes.
No personal identifiers are ever displayed publicly. Only totals, trends, and anonymous insights appear on the site.
What's Next: "HERO"
AthleteRegistry.org is sponsored by HERO, which stands for Helping Empower Rewards and Opportunity. AthleteRegistry.org is live today as a free, standalone registry. As we build the next layer, we intend to deliver rewards for program supporters and opportunity for student-athletes. As registration grows, we intend to layer in this additional functionality through HERO, a platform every registrant will have access to, bringing features, functions, and opportunities that help keep you even more informed and united with the program you helped build through your competitive years.
